17th SuSanA Meeting on 31 August 2013 in Stockholm at the World Water Week -- with feedback

I just wanted to mention this important annoncement in case someone missed it in the June newsmail of the SuSanA secretariat:

+++++++++
Save the date: 17th SuSanA meeting on 31 August in Stockholm

Following the tradition the next SuSanA meeting is scheduled for 31 August in Stockholm, Sweden prior to the Stockholm World Water Week 2013 (SWWW). The meeting will be hosted by the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) and the SuSanA Secretariat (at GIZ). The working group meetings will be spread out during the SWWW and the working group leads will comunicate details in the coming weeks. Further information on the SuSanA meeting shall be circulated through a separate email soon.

Please note the working group 5 "Food security and productive sanitation systems" meeting will take place at the International Terra Preta Sanitation Conference, Hamburg, Germany on the 29 August. The discussions from the meeting that take place at the TPS will be shared via the forum with the rest of the SuSanA community.

+++++++++++++

Further information will be available in the coming weeks on the SuSanA website here:
www.susana.org/lang-en/meetings

I see there has already been a discussion in the Working Group 1 (Capacity Development) mailing list about the options for participating in one way or another without physically being there. Life stream would be ideal but I think probably not possible (costs and bandwidth issues). One thing that would definetely work is participation via Twitter (I saw there was quite a bit of twittering during the recent WEDC conference in Nakuru which made me feel like I got a glimpse of how it went).

  • Sanitation is dignity and life. Through living and working 15 years in (Mozambique) where Cholera is endemic, the importance of sanitation became evident, furthermore it is clear that sanitation is more than an infrastructure

Re: Registration is now open for the 17th SuSanA Meeting on 31 August 2013 in Stockholm

Just to avoid disappointed and confusion: please only register for the SuSanA meeting if you are more than 95% sure that you can actually come! In the past, people sometimes registered in the hope that registration also meant invitation and sponsoring for the trip to Stockholm. This is not so! You have to pay for your own travel and accommodation (but there is no registration fee)

If you want to register but you are not certain that you can actually come, please mention this in the comments field of the registration form to make it easier for the organisers to know what number of participants to plan for.

Thanks,
Elisabeth

Re: Registration is now open for the 17th SuSanA Meeting on 31 August 2013 in Stockholm

Just a quick correction:

The SuSanA working group 5 "Food Security and Productive Sanitation" meeting will take place on August 30 (instead of Aug. 29) from 9:00 to 11:00 at the International Terra Preta Conference in Hamburg. More details will be announced shortly.

Dear Trevor et al

Regarding the proposed 75 minute session in Session 2 about SuSanA's contribution to the post-2015 dialogue, I am not sure if this will be so relevant at this stage as think it will probably be too late.

Re: Registration is now open for the 17th SuSanA Meeting on 31 August 2013 in Stockholm

Dear all

The working group 1 meeting will take place on Sunday afternoon 15.00 to 17:00 in the lobby in front of the Parkside Restaurant (the upper lunch voucher dining hall) at the world water week (1 September 2013).

The topics to be discussed are so far:
  • WG1 knowledge and experience exchange: This is open to you! Let me know if there is any past/current/future activity you are involved in which you would like to share in a 5 min slot with other WG1 members
    Remark: send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
  • Past, current and future activity of the WG1: how can we as a working group contribute to the objectives and the roadmap of SuSanA? Where do we see our role? How should our a working plan for the next 5 years look like?
    Example of future activity: possible future activities: e.g. overview on Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) in the field of sustainable sanitation; inputs of SuSanA for existing MOOCs (e.g. where SuSanA members are involved), etc.
    Remark: We have already some time to discuss shortly these questions during the SuSanA meeting.
We have already 8 participants that confirmed their participation (depending from their availability) and requests for online participation. This will not be possible, because the meeting is not during the general SuSanA meeting at SEI. A summary for feedback will be posted on the forum and sent out by mailing list.

See you soon!
