CDD Society in Bangalore, India, is inviting applications for the position of project manager for a new project on strengthening operation and maintenance sector for decentralized sanitation infrastructure (project grant awarded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation).

Project Duration:
December 2013 to November 2015

Location:
Bangalore, India. Requires frequent travel to other cities of Karnataka.

Reporting to:
Coordination and Direction team of CDD

Responsible for:
The Project Manager is responsible for directly managing, supporting and providing
direction and leadership to the a team of around 5 to 10 members, which includes
Senior Project Engineers, Project Engineers, Project Coordinators, Social Specialist,
Documentation Specialist, and Support Staff.

Compensation offer:
Commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary would not be a constraint for
the right candidate and would be above the average standard.

Background:
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has awarded above project grant to a German NGO called BORDA. BORDA in turn have selected CDD Society for implementation of the project. The project aims to support improved (enabling environment) O&M services for decentralised urban sanitation infrastructure in one city of the State of Karnataka, India.

Key Responsibilities:
The Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, implementation, monitoring
and reporting of the project under the supervision of the project partners and CDD
Society. S/he will manage the technical, human, financial and other resources assigned
by the Project and is responsible for creating and nurturing a team that will successfully implement the project. The Program Manager will provide excellent technical expertise in engineering of water and sanitation systems, and also demonstrate superior project management and team leadership.

Qualification and Experience:
Engineering degree (civil, mechanical, electrical and environment) with at least 7 years work experience and post graduate degree in Management will be preferred. Experience of working with the government and prior experience of managing water and sanitation projects or working with an INGO would be an added advantage.
