How to send the results of a library search or filter operation to another person by using a URL link
Dear Forum users,
As you know, the SuSanA library content (over 2000 documents! See: www.susana.org) can be filtered by certain categories or searched with a word search.
If you want to send the results of a certain filter operation or a word search (or a combination of both) to a friend or colleague, then this post explains to you how it's done.
Case A: If you want to send the search results from a library search with a keyword, then the URL would look like this:
Example 1: search by keyword “handwashing”
www.susana.org/en/resources/library?search=handwashing
Example 2: searching for a keyword that consists of two words, like „open defecation“
www.susana.org//en/resources/library?search=open+defecation
Note that the URL is not displayed like this in the browser line but you have to add these parts manually to the end of the URL:
?search=handwashing
?search=open+defecation
Case B: Sending the results from a filter operation coupled with a word search
Example 3: In this case we want to filter the library by the setting “school sanitation” and afterwards find documents on “handwashing” within these results.
This is how it's done: Filter the library by setting "school sanitation" (using the green filter button at the top right of the library). This provides you with this link in the browser line:
www.susana.org/en/resources/library?vbl_...5D=&vbl_5%5B22%5D=22
If you now want to search for handwashing within these filter results you can add "handwashing" in the search field and find the result. If you want to send this search result to another person you simply need to add:
&search=handwashing to the end of the URL. It would then look like this:
www.susana.org/en/resources/library?vbl_...2&search=handwashing
(note this time we need to use the ampersand (&), not the questionmark)
Or if your keyword consists of two words, like in "open defecation", the URL would look like this:
www.susana.org/en/resources/library?vbl_...arch=open+defecation
where you have manually added this part to the end: &search=open+defecation
I hope this explanation is helpful? Let us know if you come across any problems or questions about displaying and sending specific search results to someone?
Regards,
milli
