Re: New filter functions in the SuSanA Library - Filter by "recommended by SuSanA", planning guidelines, factsheets, presentations, posters, technical drawings

Dear SuSanA community,

To make your search for publications more efficient and user-friendly, you can now also filter the library by target audience, a new filter category which we have called: "Materials for:"

To get there, just go to www.susana.org/library and then use the green filter button at the top right. We have tried to be quite selective so that only the really useful materials for the three target groups come up. Do you like it? Are there any important documents missing? For example the "for educational purposes" category is still a bit empty (with only 28 entries):
www.susana.org/en/resources/library?vbl_...5D=&vbl_4%5B70%5D=70

Note that of course double filters are possible: this means you can search for "materials for practitiones" AND "constructed wetlands" for example, simply by ticking the two relevant boxes.

As the help button of the filter panel explains:

If you tick two options within one filter parameter, then this is treated as an "or" search, meaning either of them could be true. But if you tick two filters for two different parameters then this is treated as an "and" search, i.e. both parameters must be true to return a result.

Happy Researching!

Kind regards,

Jasmin (on behalf of the SuSanA Secretariat)

Re: Filter by "recommended by SuSanA", planning guidelinees, factsheets, presentations, posters, technical drawings

Yay, we have additional filter functions for the SuSanA library* for you which allow you to quickly see what's in the library with regards to:
  • planning guidelines/manuals
  • factsheets
  • presentations
  • posters
  • technical drawings
To access these filters, go to the SuSanA library: www.susana.org/en/resources/library (or use the link at the top menu bar of this forum, at the left in green)

Then click at the top right on the green "filter" button. Then scrol down in the filter options until you get to "Filter by type of resource". It looks like this (normally without the red box of course):

Now you tick on what you want to filter for and then click on "apply filter".

You will find: You can help to improve this even further if you:
  1. Point out which planning guidelinees, factsheets, presentations, posters, technical drawings are still missing in the library (it could be that they're in there but don't have the tick in the right filter box yet)
  2. Let us know if you find any document that shows up in the wrong category (meaning its tick has been set wrongly in the backend).
Thanks.

Regards,
Elisabeth

* Those who have been with SuSanA for a long time might remember that this was already available on the old SuSanA website; after the re-launch in 2014 we had to re-instate this, which took a little while for technical reasons.

New filter functions in the SuSanA Library - Filter by type of resource, target group, posters, technical drawings and by "recommended by SuSanA"

Dear SuSanA community,

did you know that 1944 publications are already uploaded to the SuSanA library? That’s quite a lot, if you are searching for specific information.
For an easy and user-friendly navigation we have been continuously working on the development of filter functions and now added a new filter called “Recommended by SuSanA”.

The “Recommended by SuSanA” Filter will help you to find the highlights of the SuSanA library by one click. At the moment 63 publications have been selected. If you find this too much, the number of them can be easily reduced by applying additional filters as well. For example, if you are looking for recommended literature in the field of sanitation systems and technology options, just apply the filter “Recommended by SuSanA” and the filter “Working Group 4” and the number of results will be reduced to 15.

And how do we decide which literature to recommend?
The recommended literature is based on the compilation of key documents that is selected for each category (or sub-category) of the SuSanA forum and openly discussed with the SuSanA Forum users - please see more information here forum.susana.org/key-documents .

You are warmly invited to get engaged into this discussion, to tell us your top readings and why you recommend them..

Kind regards,

Annkathrin (on behalf of the SuSanA Secretariat)
