If the course is not full yet (you can check through my colleague Tineke under This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) it will still be possible to join, even just before the course starts.
Enjoy..!

Interesting offer. Out of general curiosity: would it still be possible to enroll for the first course in May 2014 (Sanitation Modeling), or does the registration procedure take longer than that?

Dear Colleagues,
In 2013, UNESCO-IHE introduced a new Graduate Professional Diploma Programme (GPDP) in Sanitation and Sanitary Engineering. The programme aims to offer better access to the Institute's specialist knowledge and increased flexibility to water professionals who wish to specialize further, or re-direct their current career. To qualify for the diploma, participants need to successfully complete a set of courses tailored to their needs in a personal study plan, either online or face-to-face in Delft. The online courses can be followed part-time, without interrupting a day-time career, at much lower cost.
The programme consists of a sequence of four or five online courses, regular face-to-face short courses or a combination of both. The ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) points per course under the GPDP vary from 3 to 6 as indicated in the table below. The minimum study load for obtaining a diploma is 20 ECTS. The total duration of the programme depends on the participant's progress and circumstances and may vary between 1.5 and 4.5 years.
Participants can select one of three clusters of courses leading to three different tracks:
1. Sanitation Track (S): 14 ECTS credits from sanitation online courses must be obtained + 6 ECTS credits from any other online courses mentioned in the list below.
2. Sanitary Engineering Track (SE): 14 ECTS credits from sanitary engineering online courses + 6 ECTS credits from any other online courses mentioned in the list below.
3. All-round/generalist Track (M): 10 ECTS credits from sanitation online courses + 10 ECTS credits from sanitary engineering courses
Relevant online courses (see www.unesco-ihe.org/graduate-professional-diploma-programme for the details of the courses):
Ecological Sanitation (5 ECTS - Sanitation track)
Solid Waste Management (5 ECTS - Sanitation track)
Governance of Decentralised Sanitation (5 ECTS - Sanitation track)
Grey Water Management, Treatment and Use (3 ECTS - Sanitation track)
Faecal Sludge Management (5 ECTS - Sanitation track)
Biological Wastewater Treatment: Principles, Modelling & Design (6 ECTS - Sanitary Engineering track)
Industrial Resource Management and Cleaner Production (5 ECTS - Sanitary Engineering track)
Constructed Wetlands for Wastewater Treatment (5 ECTS - Sanitary Engineering track)
Industrial Effluent Treatment (5 ECTS - Sanitary Engineering track)
Modelling Sanitation Systems (5 ECTS - Sanitary Engineering track)
Urban Drainage and Sewerage (5 ECTS - Sanitary Engineering track)
The programme receives fellowship support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Organisation of American States, among others. In this initial phase, GPDP is restricted to the field of Sanitary Engineering and Sanitation. Over time, it will be possible to study for the Diploma in other fields as plans are underway for additional GPDPs in Water Supply Engineering, Water Treatment Technology, Urban Water Networks, Flood Risk Management and Cleaner Production and Residuals Management. In the meantime ideas for collaboration are being developed with partners in South Africa, India, Brazil and Uganda among others.
