Re: 37th WEDC International Conference, Hanoi, Vietnam 15-19 September, 2014 - Capacity Development on Violence, Gender & WASH - feedback

Hi,

I am wondering if anyone who went to this conference in Vietnam last week could share some feedback here? What were the main issues discussed, what were the vibes? How much talk on sanitation and faecal sludge management was there? What were the hot topics?

Also, people who presented at that conference could they please share their presentations either in this thread or in the respective thematic category on the forum?

Peepoople have already done that with their presentation about using Peepoo bags in the emergency response after the typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines:
forum.susana.org/forum/categories/67-san...it=12&start=12#10262

There is also the Twitter hashtag which had quite a few tweets:
twitter.com/hashtag/37WEDC?src=hash

And I think normally WEDC makes the papers available afterwards on their website?

I just think that so much effort goes into preparing and hosting such conferences that it would be good to also make some stuff available to people who weren't able to attend.

So if anyone went to this conference and has anything to say about it or share from it, that would be much appreciated.

Regards,
Elisabeth

Re: 37th WEDC International Conference, Hanoi, Vietnam 15-19 September, 2014 - feedback?

Dear colleagues,

We are running a one day Capacity Development (CD) event on Thursday 18th Sept on Violence, Gender and WASH at the WEDC International Conference (Mon 15 to Fri 19 Sept) in Hanoi.

Please see the links to the WEDC conference and more information on the CD day at the end of this email.

The capacity development day is free of charge to attend if you have registered for the conference (and paid the registration fee), and all participants will receive a hardcopy of the toolkit and USB to take away with them at the end of the day.

Booking is through the WEDC website. Please also let your colleagues know about this opportunity.

Based on the feedback we'll revise the training materials after the conference and plan to make them freely available through the toolkit website (violence-WASH.lboro.ac.uk) in case you would like to use/adapt them in future trainings (probably by the end of the year).

We hope you or your colleagues can join us there.

Best regards,

Sue Cavill and Sarah House

Re: 37th WEDC International Conference, Hanoi, Vietnam 15-19 September, 2014

Dear all,

I am wondering if any of you - the SuSanA Forum participants - are going to the 37th WEDC International Conference in Hanoi, Vietnam on 15-19 September, 2014?
Registration for that conference is now open (but the programme is not yet uploaded):
www.wedcconference.co.uk/programme.html

If there are several SuSanA members going to be there, perhaps a small meeting could be organised? And make sure you tell us about the conference via twitter (do we know the official hashtag yet for the conference?)

Regards,
Elisabeth
