Sanitation Related Events Surrounding World Water Day, March 22, 2014

World Water Day 2014 is coming up on March 22, 2014:

World Water Day is held annually on March 22nd as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.

This international day to celebrate freshwater was recommended at the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED). The United Nations General Assembly responded by designating 22 March 1993 as the first World Water Day. Each year, World Water Day highlights a specific aspect of freshwater. In 2014, the focus is on "Water and Energy".

There will be events across the world which recognize World Water Day, including sanitation-related events, such as:

- World Walks for Water and Sanitation
www.worldwalksforwater.org/eng/
A global mobilization event which demands action across the world to address the water and sanitation crisis. Between 15 and 23 March, 2014 people from across the world will walk together to demand change from their governments.

- WASH Advocacy Day in Washington D.C., USA, March 12 + 13

On March 13, hundreds of people from across the country are coming to Washington D.C. to meet with their Representatives on Capitol Hill. World Vision is also holding a special conference, H2O: DC from March 12-13 to discuss about WASH and advocate on the Hill.

Please post here any events that YOU are planning or have heard of for World Water Week that are also related to sanitation.
