Webinar - Faecal sludge emptying: Technology, business model and linkage to solid waste (13 May 2020, FINISH Mondial)

Dear Susana Members,

Hope thatyou are well and healthy!
I am writing to invite you to the upcoming FINISH Mondial ( finishmondial.org/ ) webinar next week (13 May 2020) on ‘Faecal sludge emptying: Technology, businessmodel and linkage to solid waste’ organised by the FSM-CE (Faecal Sludge Management and Circular Economy)Working Group of FINISH Mondial. Below you canfind more details of the webinar:
  • Webinar title: Faecal sludge emptying: Technology, business model and linkage tosolid waste
  • Description: Aftera toilet is constructed, what happens when a pit latrine or septic tank is
full? While pits being a common on-site sanitation system, the challenges from
desludging pits are that the faecal sludge is too thick, pits are full of
rubbish and sometimes the pits are difficult to reach. The current manual pit
emptying practices are labour intensive, unpleasant, unhygienic and informal.
FINISHMondial programme is increasingly focusing on safe collection and
transportation of faecal sludge to ensure a proper faecal sludge management
system is in place in the target areas. For the purpose of knowledge sharing,
the FSM-CE Working Group is organising this webinar where we will be listening
to practical experiences on FS emptying from Kenya, Bangladesh and Zambia from
various practitioners.
Join us in thiswebinar to learn more about what is working on the ground, lessons learned and
opportunities on faecal sludge emptying!
