Announcing LeAF course "New Sanitation - The Resource Recovery Approach", 8-9 April 2014 (Wageningen, the Netherlands)
LeAF Course on New Sanitation – The Resource Recovery Approach
In spring this year LeAF will organize a two day course “New Sanitation – The Resource Recovery Approach” (8-9 April 2014). The aim of this course is to inform the audience on how to make concrete steps towards the New Sanitation (also known as Sustainable Sanitation or EcoSanitation) in the built environment.
Location: Wageningen, the Netherlands
Currently we waste our water and the resources contained therein. Many of us realize that this is not sustainable in a world facing resource shortages - water, nutrients and fossil fuels. The ultimate goal of New Sanitation is to fully recover valuable resources from separated waste streams and close the nutrient and water cycle, while producing energy. The big challenge is: how can we make the first concrete steps in the built environment towards that ultimate goal, staying within the financial, technological, hygienic, organisational and legal boundaries?
The course consists of three parts, starting with technological background of New Sanitation, which will be followed by experiences from the field. In the last part, the participants will work on cases. Each case focuses on one typology of the built environment (for example housing district, office district, rural area, industrial zone). The course is given by various experts involved in research and implementation of new sanitation.
The course is designed for the environmental and sanitary engineers, as well as decision makers working for governmental organizations, i.e. water boards, municipalities, etc. Deadline for applications is March 3, 2014. For more information about the course you can visit our website: www.leaf-wageningen.nl/en/show/New-Sanit...ecovery-Approach.htm or contact Darja Kragic Kok at This email address is being protected from spambots.
