Re: online courses - looking at water and sanitation service delivery in informal settlements in Peru and globally

Thank you for sharing such an important and timely opportunity. The work you're doing around infectious diseases, environmental health, and watershed interventions is incredibly relevant, not just to Fiji, but also to regions like ours here in Zambia. While I understand the recent PhD application window has now closed, I’d like to express my sincere interest in any future opportunities that may come up, whether similar PhD positions, short-term research roles, or collaborative projects in the WASH and public health space. I believe there are many others from different regions who would also benefit from staying connected to initiatives like this.Would it be possible to know if there are plans for upcoming calls or other related opportunities we could prepare for in advance? It would be helpful if updates on such openings could be shared early to allow wider participation.Thank you for leading such meaningful work. I look forward to staying engaged and hopefully contributing in some way in the future.Warm regards,  Benny

online courses - looking at water and sanitation service delivery in informal settlements in Peru and globally

Hello!

There are several free online courses open now on the Cap-Net virtual campus looking at water and sanitaiton service delivery in informal settlements.

One such course focuses on the case of Lima, Peru specifically. It has the particularity of looking at the issues encountered for service delivery from different perspectives - the utility's, as well as that of local organisations and authorities, and residents. It also looks at how corruption or integrity issues might be affecting service delivery.
Sanitation service is a particular challenge and even more 'in the shadows' than water services. Difficult terrain has consequences but so do issues of responsibility, accountability, and corruption.
The course is online through November at this link (in Spanish):

A broader course is also available. It looks at different cases and their impact for integrity, from South Africa, Kenya, and Argentina.
