Seminar (in German): Integrating WASH and food security (Berlin, October 2 & 3, 2020)

Dear WASH community,

we are happy to announce another WASH seminar coming up on October 2 & 3, 2020 in Berlin.

The 2-day seminar on 2 and 3 October will focus on the interrelationships between water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and food security (WASH-Nutrition). These are immense: Poor WASH supply leads to a cycle of disease and malnutrition, which prevents healthy development, especially in childhood. The WASH-Nutrition context is defined by two causal relationships:
  • WASH-related infections have an impact on the nutritional status. Valuable calories and nutrients can only be insufficiently absorbed through diarrheal diseases, worm infestation or a damaged intestinal surface.
  • WASH interventions can improve the nutritional status through positive health effects.
The course will be held in German only. Due to the COVID-19 situation, it will be held in compliance with the applicable hygiene measures and distance rules.
