Re: Share your work with us: Sign up to present in our monthly SuSanA webinar - next one on 26 May
Our first monthly SuSanA webinar took place on 28 April and was not only informative but also a lot of fun!
You can see the recording here:
forum.susana.org/forum/categories/71-beh...-now-available#17847
Here is also a screenshot that I took, showing Arno with three lovely ladies (Sarah, Erin and myself):
We had about 40 participants and encouraged everyone to turn on their webcams. During the mingling session after the webinar, we had about 10 webcams going and that was fun.
You see, unlike other webinars, our focus is to get interactions amongst the participants going plus to encourage the feeling that you're really "meeting" someone here. Even with a slow internet connection (for example Kris Makowka from the Philippines), using the webcam was possible.
Our next monthly webinar will be again the last Thursday of the month, i.e. Thursday, 26 May 2016.
The chief organiser, Sarah, is still looking for a couple of presenters for this slot, so please don't be shy but put up your hand to present (either for the May slot or for one of the following ones)! Simply e-mail her on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Note you don't have to have a fancy presentation, just a couple of slides and/or some photos would be sufficient. The time for the webinar can be adjusted to your time zone needs (but not the date; the date is fixed, so that people get used to it: always the last Thursday of the month).
Regards,
Elisabeth

Share your work with us: Sign up to present in our monthly SuSanA webinars
Dear all,
We know that many of you are doing interesting sanitation-related work, be it in research, project implementation, advocacy, strategy, private sector activities, local government work, etc. We would like to give you an opportunity to share your work and discuss your topics with other SuSanA members in a relaxed atmosphere.
We are planning to start a monthly webinar series. Our first webinar (about 45 minutes duration) will kick off Thursday, April 28th. We invite SuSanA members to step forward who would like to do a short presentation, with around 5 slides about their work, or on a sanitation topic of their choice. These sessions will also include an informal ‘mingle’ time (e.g. 30 minutes long) before the presentations. The webinar itself will also include time for discussion and questions about the presentations.
Please contact me (see my e-mail in my signature footer) if you are interested in being part of this great opportunity to share your work. We will have a maximum of 2-3 presenters each session, so please do sign up soon for a monthly slot, starting in April 28th.
The webinars would always be on the last Thursday of a month, but the time of the day would vary from morning, afternoon to evening (CET, Central European Time) in order to give people living in different time zones of this world a chance to attend a webinar that suits their local time.
Please share any questions or comments about this new format in this thread.
Note that to be a presenter (ideally with video), you need to have a very good internet connection speed. 4-5 Mbits/sec download and same speed for upload is required to use our platform, Adobe Connect. You can check using this website: www.speedtest.net/
To be a regular participant you also need a good internet connection speed but you can turn off the videos if your connection speed is not as fast.
We plan to record the presentation and Q&A session of the webinar, but not the mingling sessions before and after the presentations.
Best regards,
Sarah
(with Arno Rosemarin, Elisabeth von Muench and Annkathrin Tempel)
P.S. You might recall that the idea for such a monthly webinar series was raised in June last year when we had the "open microphone" SuSanA webinar, see post by Trevor here on Page 2:
forum.susana.org/forum/categories/10-ann...it=12&start=12#13756
It took us a little while but now we're ready to test this out, with your help.

- Minimum 4-5 mBit/s of bandwidth (up and down) for presenters (to ensure quality video and sound)
- Use of headset - one person per computer (not group call unless a properly set up USB table speaker systems with echo cancellation is being used)
- Headset or table phone speaker set up properly with the computer’s sound card prior to turning on Adobe Connect
- Run Adobe Connect audio set up wizard (click on the tab at the top left after entering the Adobe Connect room).
