Introducing ACRA a new partner organisation of SuSanA

We would like to welcome ACRA as new SuSanA partner organisation. This is the first time that we are posting an introduction to a new partner organisation and hope to make it a regular feature here in the forum. For the 186 SuSanA partner organisation's who have joined the alliance prior to this posting, please feel free to use this section in the forum to introduce your organisation.

Description:
A foundation with community-based rural development as its mission. It is based in Italy (HQ is in Milan) and present in Africa (Senegal, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Tchad, Tanzania, Mozambique, Zambia), Latin America (Ecuador, Bolivia, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras) and Asia (India, Cambodia, Nepal).

Activities in Sustainable Sanitation:
At the time being, ACRA is active on sanitation in Senegal, Tanzania and Central America. We work in and with local communities to provide sanitation services in rural areas (or peri-urban)atrines, to create awareness, to implement decentralized policies, to search for sustainable and affordable materials, models and construction techniques. We are guided by the principles of the Human Right to Water and Sanitation.

Expectations in the Partnership:
An input to reflection and lessons learned; a platform to exchange experience and information; a guidance to have larger impact on the ground.

Contribution to SuSanA:
Participate in thematic discussions; join efforts to propose side-events at international conferences; collect and analyse own experience in papers; (with time, as we become more familiar with SusanA) contribute to moderate thematic groups, for a period of time.
