Re: Introducing RTI International: a new partner organisation of SuSanA

Welcome RTI International!
I came to know about your organisation via the posts made by David Robbins about a research project funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation:
forum.susana.org/forum/categories/105-pr...-and-other-countries

The discussion about "Using Cocopeat for Treating Septic Tank Effluent" received 36 replies! And they have a lot of resources on their wastewater website as well:
watsanexp.ning.com/

So I hope to hear more from you on the forum in the future (e.g. also about that second large Gates-funded grant on "Electrochemical disinfection with integrated biomass oven for solid waste processing and energy harvesting" - I can now see some information about it on your project website here: abettertoilet.org/).

Introducing RTI International: a new partner organisation of SuSanA

We would like to welcome RTI International as new SuSanA partner organisation.

The following text is taken directly from their application form and was written by the partner organisation themselves.

Description:
RTI International is one of the world's leading research institutes, dedicated to improving the human condition by turning knowledge into practice. Our staff of more than 3,700 provides research and technical services to governments and businesses in more than 75 countries in the areas of health and pharmaceuticals, education and training, surveys and statistics, advanced technology, international development, economic and social policy, energy and the environment, and laboratory testing and chemical analysis.

Activities in Sustainable Sanitation:
RTI is very active in the field of sustainable sanitation. We have been active in R&D activities aimed at developing both simple and high-tech solutions to improve sanitation in urban and rural environments. We have also conducted research studies and implemented and tested new solutions in developing countries.

Expectations in the Partnership:
Collaboration. We expect that partners will share information and complement capabilities, hopefully with the shared aim of improving sanitation.

Contribution to SuSanA:
RTI can add technical expertise in areas such materials, energy harvesting, liquid waste treatment, and solid waste treatment. We also have broad social science research experience including collecting vast amounts of qualitative and quantitative information in developed and developing countries. Finally, we have extensive sanitation experience to help us add value to discussions on SuSanA.

Brent Rowe is the SuSanA contact person for RTI International.
