Digging a pit 30 years ago sparks his mission to end open defecation in Nepal

A recent post on WSSCC website ⏩ Digging a pit 30 years ago sparks his mission to end open defecation A sanitation professional’s long journey to the ODF Nepal
carries an amazing story of one man's passion to raise awareness and help Nepal achieve an open defecation free status.

The story filed by WSSCC Field communications consultant in Nepal, Renu Kshetry, tells a compelling story of Chandra KC, the former Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Water Supply (MoWS), and a member of WSSCC, whose mission to end open defactaion in Nepal was sparked off by digging just one pit.

“There was not even a single toilet, not even in government offices,” recalled Mr KC. “Fields and nearby bushes were used as toilets.”

The story is worth a good read as it shows you what just one man with a passion can do to achieve what may appear a difficult task.
