Re: Working Group 1 (capacity development) meeting during the Stockholm World Water Week in August 2017

Dear Sterenn

I will arrive later on sunday and will not be able to participate in this meeting
A few suggestions by mail.
- Combine capacity building in sanitation with training in water.
- Focus on training the local private sector
- Focus on Market based products and products that can be made with local materials
- Train in both technical aspects ( construction etc) and aspects like bussines skills (Marketing, book keeping etc.)
- Create exposition areas where a range of WASH options are demonstrated so people have a choice.
an example maybe the SMART Centres.
- For systems for communal use Private Based Management or Family Based Management rather than Community Based Management
- Make sure there are payment options for people, families who can not pay in one time.

KInd regards

Look forward to seeing you there!

Re: Working Group 1 (capacity development) meeting during the Stockholm World Water Week in August 2017

Hi Everyone,

We will be organizing a Working Group 1 meeting (Capacity Development) on Sunday 26th of August from 10:00 - 11:30 am at the SEI Office.

The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss capacity development amongst capacity developers and people that are interested in capacity development. During this meeting we would like capacity developers to share their experiences and discuss their successes and lessons learned. We would also like to discuss the role of working group 1 and how it can best support capacity developers.

The facilitation of the meeting will depend on the number of attendees. If we are a large number, we will likely have presentations followed by small/large group discussions. If we are a smaller number, we would like to suggest a roundtable discussion.

Are there specific capacity development topics you would like us to discuss at this meeting? Would you like to present your successes and lessons learnt from capacity development?

We don't have a set agenda yet, and welcome suggestions! We will share the finalized agenda shortly before WWW.

Thanks,

Sterenn

Working Group 1 (capacity development) meeting during the Stockholm World Water Week in August 2017

Suggestion for Draft Agenda of Working Group Meeting on 29th August

The proposed structure is very linear.

It may be better to structure the agenda of this working group to make effective use of learning and lessons from different members and to connect what has been done and learnt with what is being planned in the coming years.

Kindly consider the following agenda:

1. Capacity building Lessons : Presentation of lessons learnt in implementing capacity building interventions at scale

Presentations on International, Regional and National level Capacity Building experiences : 3 to 5 presentations in a Panel followed by discussion. This will cover both the demand and supply side lessons under each presentation.

From NIUA we will be happy to share the lessons learnt in our scaled up National Capacity Building in FSM experience in India.

2. Capacity Building Plans and Approaches in the coming years : Donor agencies can share their strategy and plans.

BMGF, GIZ, USAID, DFID and other donors may be invited to present. I am BMGF is working with IHE Delft on a major international capacity building initiative and it will be good to hear them and other donors present their plans and have a feedback/discussion.

Presentation of ideas and plans, followed by discussion.
