Re: Global Handwashing Day Commemorations; 15th October - Outputs from 2021 event

Hi everyone,

Global Handwashing Day last month, during a global webinar from New York, saw the launch of the first  State of the World's Hand Hygiene  report, many new voices were heard and a number of important commitments made during the session. You can see some of the additional outputs from the meeting at these links: Best regards,
Dave

Re: What activities are planned for Global Handwashing Day Commemorations; 15th October?

Dear All,

Thank you for sharing. These annual events are an additional opportunity to create awareness, impart knowledge on the subject and lobby/ advocate for action. The different ideas shared do help others think outside the box about possible ideas and opportunities for such events.

Elaine, Thank you for the useful resources.

With World Toilet Day in toe (19th November, 2021), i think a similar post will be helpful to get us thinking about ideas/possibilities for this years commemorations.

Hi Everyone!

I am Devika from ASCI, India. Our team ran a week-long virtual campaign on hand hygiene awareness for children this year. There was an online survey, the first of its kind, that was widely circulated on social media and received a massive response from across the country. Dear Chaiwe and all,

Thanks for the prompt Chaiwe! At the Sanitation Learning Hub we don't have a specific activity planned but we are sharing our current favourite 10 resources on handwashing in low resources settings.

Here is our top ten! (I've given a short description of them rather put the full title):
We have more resources in our full handwashing collection .

What is your current favourite handwashing resource?

Best wishes
Elaine

What activities are planned for Global Handwashing Day Commemorations; 15th October?

Dear All,

The Global Handwashing Day, held each year since 2008 on October 15, serves as a yearly reminder that handwashing with soap and water is one of the best steps we can take to halt the spread of infectious diseases such as diarrhea. This day is dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding about the importance of handwashing with soap as an effective and affordable way to prevent diseases at home, in the community, and around the world.

What activities, initiatives and interventions have you earmarked for this special day?

Regards,
Chaiwe
