Re: Games for Urine Diversion Toilets

Hi,

To go with the games in educational activities ...

Here are candy lollipops in the shape of toilet plungers that one puts into little plastic toilets of sour powder. Among other things, the empty plastic toilets left at the end could be used to make doll-sized models of sanitation systems.

Best wishes,

Re: Games for Urine Diversion Toilets

Dear Cecilia

Thank you ! for the link as well for the compliments.

what a fun exhibition - would love to visit it!!!!
we also do have a shit-hat here in the office , and me have a golden one =)

strictly speaking, playing a "shithead" might not be the a good message, but what i do love is that one "dives" into the unknown sewer & wastewater system.

Re: Games for Urine Diversion Toilets

Hi Ina,

I hope you are doing fine! I am happy to hear that you're a featured user!

I came across this exhibition going on at the 'National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation', in Japan. I'm not sure if it was posted elsewhere here in the forum. www.miraikan.jst.go.jp/en/spexhibition/toilet/

The pictures of the installation are quite nice and cute. It may serve as inspiration for games! www.nydailynews.com/life-style/toilet-ex...um-article-1.1862127

Re: Games for Urine Diversion Toilets

Halo Elisabeth

how could i forgot Pee&Poo! I have them since 2008 traveling with me, when i bought them in Gotenburgs museum. (just attached a pic from a recent image photo shot ;)
For kids education, puppets do really have big impact. See sesame street!

thanks for all the other links, that might be good additions to the games and activities we are thinking off.

Re: Games for Urine Diversion Toilets

Dear Cecile,

Oh, yes, sorry, I was meant to put the link.
It is a Swedish company and they also sell T-shirts and key rings with the same motive. I first saw them on sale at the airport in Stockholm. Should find out one day what got them onto this idea and if it sells well...

Here is the link:

And here is a screenshot of their website because it is so pretty:

Re: Games for Urine Diversion Toilets

Dear Ina,

I've thought about your question and could not think of any materials I had seen yet to teach children about UDDTs in a fun way.

Here is one idea: get some of these groovy cuddly toys from Sweden: I have found them a great ice breaker with adults and children alike. Throw Pee and Poo around in the audience... children love it.

Then there are those cartoons which were also recently reproduced in the Sustainable Sanitation Practice magazine (but not specific for children):

Mexico example:

Poo from Sourabh Padke:

And then there are the materials from the GTO My School Loo. These were not specific for urine diversion but they were set up to ensure that nothing would speak against reuse later. This means, not the poo was demonised but the pathogens inside of the poo.

So, sorry, I could not help you much. But perhaps this post will bring others into action to share their ideas and experiences. And it might also be "enough" so that you share your ideas with us. ;)

Games for Urine Diversion Toilets and other sanitation promotional activities

Hi Friends and colleagues

WASH United uses games, fun, sport stars and strictly positive messages to educate kids about the importance of sanitation and hygiene.
for example there is the World Toilet Cup game, in which the students have to score the brown football (symbolizing poo) into the holes (symbolizing the toilet hole) = Put the poo into the loo.

we are planning to work now together with Sanergy in Nairobi ( :) ) in some schools. Because Sanergy builds UDDTs, we want to expand our curricula to train kids with fun how to separate number 1 and number 2 ?

in order not "re-invent the wheel" - do you use any games in school or community work for UDDTs?

P.S. Happy to share some of our ideas later ;)
