Re: Scaling up capacity building initiatives in FSM

Dear Sriharini,

You might be interested in CAWST's project on scaling up capacity building in non-sewered sanitation ( Project link ). As part of this project, we will collect and catalogue training materials from various organizations. We will also likely send out an email to WG1 to collect these materials. The plan is to then upload these on SuSanA's Library. We will add filters to make it easier to find these types of materials.

Best regards,

Sterenn

Re: Scaling up capacity building initiatives in FSM

Dear Sriharini,

This organization came to mind for me: Consortium for DEWATS Dissemination Society
They are a SuSanA partner in India:
www.susana.org/en/partner/details/1567

Further thoughts:
- Isn't this discussion forum also one giant capacity development initiative in sanitation?
- And also the Sanitation Wikipedia drive - it's doing public education (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Sanitation). Is public education regarded as part of capacity development?

Could you tell us what information you have unearthed so far? And what you intend to do with that information?

Some time ago (in 2012), the SuSanA working group on capacity development summarised the current status in a factsheet. It's a bit outdated now but perhaps still useful:
Spuhler, D., McCreary, C., Fogde, M., Jenssen, P. D. (2012). Capacity development for sustainable sanitation - Factsheet of Working Group 1. Sustainable Sanitation Alliance (SuSanA)
www.susana.org/en/resources/susana-publications/details/167

Maybe your work could be used to update that factsheet?

Another thing you could do is to ask for help by the Working Group 1 members (there are 3500 of them). You could send an e-mail to their mailing list (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) and put the forum e-mail address in cc (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), then tell them to reply either to you or (better) with reply-all. This would generate a forum post under their name.

Regards,
Elisabeth

Re: Scaling up capacity building initiatives in FSM

I would suggest looking up iDE Cambodia. They have done a lot of capacity building and value chain improvement in sanitation in Cambodia over the past 20 years. They have published myriad papers on their successes and failures.

Scaling up capacity building initiatives in FSM

What are the various capacity building/training programmes that have achieved scale and have been successfully implemented across the sanitation value chain? Request forum members to share case-studies, courses, materials and other resources from across the world that showcase innovation in the area of capacity building and successful scaling-up of training among stakeholders in sanitation. Thanks.
