We would like to welcome the Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation (ASSIST) based in the Philippines as a new SuSanA partner organisation!

The following text is taken from their application form which was written by the partner organisation themselves.

Description:
Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation (ASSIST) is an international non-government organization focused on capacity building. Over the last 11 years, ASSIST has been seeking to promote sustainable practices to address social problems in the developing world, with focus on Asia and Africa.

ASSIST takes pride in its process-oriented approach to capacity building to achieve social improvement and sustainable transformation. Its goal is to empower its target groups and make them resilient to the social, economic and environmental challenges.

It is presently based in Makati City, Philippines, but also has operations in India and Vietnam and manages projects in over 14 countries. Through its Partner to Progress philosophy, it has successfully implemented projects in collaboration with the European Union, United Nation Environment Program (UNEP), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), USAID, International Finance Corporation (IFC), GIZ, and DEG/ KFW amongst other organizations.

Activities in Sustainable Sanitation:
In 2013, the Asian Development Bank's (ADB) NGO and Civil Society Center (NGOC) launched the ADB Youth Initiative. Its main objective is to empower youth of Asia and the Pacific as development partners by mainstreaming the participation of youth in ADB operations.

The ADB NGOC and the ADB Youth Initiative has partnered with ASSIST for the Youth4Asia Solution Search, which combines a competition and inception of an online knowledge platform that will be used to showcase, disseminate and promote youth work in the Asia Pacific. The competitions will cover specific youth activities within four areas of focus, including Health, Hygiene and Sanitation.

The online knowledge platform will consolidate youth-led projects and youth organizations that work with the government and other stakeholders on the areas of focus.
