Centres of Excellence in FSM?

Hi

Are there centres of excellence for FSM anywhere in the world, specifically in Africa? Or, research and training centres?

Thanks.

Re: Centres of Excellence in FSM?

Thank you for your message, and yes we are a Centre of Excellence actively involved in FSM in Africa.

Mzuzu University, located in northern Malawi, was established by an Act of Parliament in May 1997 and admitted its first students in January 1999. In 2009, the Mzuzu University Centre of Excellence in Water and Sanitation was established within the Faculty of Environmental Sciences. The primary objective of the Centre is to improve the effectiveness of sanitation, hygiene practices, and water supply interventions serving Malawi and the surrounding countries.

The Centre participates in research, water quality (and coming in mid-2017 fecal sludge) analysis, training, consultancies, outreach programs, and the practical application of research findings. We excel at practical research, both bringing the results and solutions back to our areas of research and publishing for global lesson sharing. In 2013, Mzuzu University added programs for PhD and Master’s in Sanitation, and we aim to include students for practical experience in each of our Centre projects. Re: Reply: Centres of Excellence in FSM?

Greetings Indiebio

The answer depends on your needs.
If they relate to
• data
• methods for the analysis of faecal sludge
• research on faecal sludge management processes and systems

A suggestion is to look at prg.ukzn.ac.za

Re: Centres of Excellence in FSM?

Hi Rochelle

I am visiting my brother for a few days, and he lives in Mzuzu! Would you be available for a brief introduction some time between the 5th and 10th July?

regards
Bernelle
